"And I say, had I but wings like a dove, I would fly and be at rest."    Psalms 55:6

Nothing can prepare us for the loss of a loved one. It is one of the most difficult and sorrowful times we will ever face. As we mourn our loss, we memorialize the deceased, and celebrate the life that they lived.

White Doves are released at funerals and memorial services to symbolize the ascension of the soul to heaven. It gives family and friends another way to bid their farewells and to begin the healing process. The beauty of the doves can lift peoples' spirits, helping them realize that their loved one is now in a better place, and that someday they will be reunited.

West Valley funeral directors know us to be both reliable and professional. With prices starting at $90, we provide a quality service that can fit any budget. Please consider us if you decide to have a dove release at a memorial service or funeral.

The Trinity- The Trinity involves the release three doves, which symbolize the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.  This is followed by the release of a single dove, representing the spirit of the loved one, which reunites with three doves flying overhead. The Trinity is symbolic the meeting of between God and spirit, and their journey to His kingdom in heaven.

The Coming of Angels- A  dozen white doves are released a short distance from the gravesite.  They will circle over the ceremony several times, as if angels had arrived to escort the loved one's spirit to heaven. Then a single dove is released by a family member, which joins the others flying overhead.  Shortly thereafter, they will fly off together into the horizon.

Family Involvement- The dove release is more personal if members of the family participate. Typically, the doves are released by the spouse, children, or grandchildren of the deceased.  Not everyone is comfortable handling birds, so we provide individual release baskets that they can open themselves.

Remote Control-  We can release doves via remote control, allowing them to rise from a statue, or other place of interest, without the dove handler standing there. Most people have there eyes downcast during a funeral, so the priest will have to direct their attention to the release area. This idea is limited by the cemetery layout and the plot location.

Music or Song-  A perfect time to let doves go is during a song by the Mariachi band or the piper.  The sight of doves overhead coupled with the sound of traditional music can be a moving experience. The doves give the family something to look at while the music is being played, and more importantly, it encourages them cast their eyes up toward the heavens.

Reading of Poetry or Biblical Verse-
Doves are sometimes released during a reading of scripture or poetry, or at the conclusion of a reading.

Custom Releases-  The method of release is entirely up to you and can be creative as you wish.

Fallen soldiers in the war on terror receive our services free of charge, should the family want doves at the memorial service.
